What did you make of Essential Jesus?

20 weeks later, how did you get on? Whether you finished it or not, fell behind or just dipped into it here and there, it would be good to share your thoughts and comments with others.

We had 122 comments in all so far, but what about your feedback?

For example:

  • What did you enjoy about Essential Jesus?

  • How did it encourage or challenge you in following Jesus - at home, work or school?

  • How effective was it in helping you get into reading and reflecting on the Bible?

  • Would you like to do anything like this with a group, or the whole church, in the future?

  • ... and any other comments welcome too!

If you wish to comment, click on "comments" below, type your comment in the box that appears in the new window, click "Name" and put in your name or 'anonymous', then select "Publish your comment" to put it on-line.

I hope this really HAS helped you come to the Bible to let God speak to you and draw you nearer to him, enabling you to follow Jesus more closely and to grow in confidence in faith in Christ.

Although I found the daily Bible readings in Essential Jesus thought-provoking & challenging, I think that this book is more 'geared' to the less mature Christian & to those who are still searching for the truth. Nevertheless, the discipline of daily Bible readings & knowing that the local family of God at RBC was also involved in the same readings, made it all an invaluable experience.

Essential Jesus? Essential reading. I agree with anonymous in every way.I also liked the blog,in case people missed that!:)Both book and blog helped me focus on Jesus in a personal way.Sometimes the readings were obscure or the commentary duff BUT BUT I wouldn't change it for anything. I'm glad I did it.

I'll add my thoughts to the list (if two counts as a list?). I'd also agree that I didn't find the book that helpful all the time, but did find the discipline and Bible readings and interaction with others very helpful indeed.

Thank you JAMES ROACH for faithful blogging indeed, and lots of imaginative, thought-provoking and helpful comments. Your blogging kept me going with the blog and thinking more deeply too.

I felt the Essential 100 was easier to keep going with as it was more varied (the whole Bible story), less familiar, and the blog was more widely used. But it has definitely still been very worthwhile to do the EJ together, even if only a few found the blog a helpful tool.

For those that read and/or blogged, thanks for taking part!
