Maybe its Johns wonderful poetic style but I have to say that I too was a bit confused by Jesus apparently canabalistic message today. I mean knowing Jesus' overall message I intuited that he was talking spiritually but strip away 2,000 years of analysis and just focus on his words and I think its easy to see why his disciples were nonplussed. The challenge I get from todays reading is that if we were i their boots would we be one of those walking away disgusted or one of the 12 confused but loyal? If a truth is presented to us in an unappealing way would we accept it or turn away?
Just to say thanks to all the bloggers for the insight and different perspectives you bring to EJ. When I have got a bit behind it has been great to read the blog (often during lunch break!) and it has really encouraged me get back on track.
