How to blog ...

The posts are the messages which will appear regularly. Typically they will show the Bible readings for the next few days. The most recent posts appear at the top.
By scrolling down the page, you can read previous posts, or find them by looking in the archive list on the right hand side of the screen.
If you want to comment on any of the readings, which can be a thought or observation or question or anything really, click on where it says "comments" and this will open up a new window. Type your comment in the box, and click on "publish your comment". You can remain anonymous, but it is more helpful and enjoyable if you give your name.
And that's it! Enjoy taking part!

Getting ready ...

Welcome!

This is the blog for “RBC on Essential Jesus”.

Last year in Ruislip Baptist Church we looked at Essential 100. This covered 100 selected daily Bible readings from Genesis to Revelation with various stops on the journey, taking in sections of both the Old and New Testaments.

In this new Bible reading programme, Essential Jesus focuses on Jesus himself: the Essential Jesus book guides us through Bible readings, to help us reflect on who he is and why he is so important for today.

Essential Jesus takes us on a tour of the Bible, from Old Testament background and prophecies, to the New Testament where we read of his birth, life, teaching, miracles, death, resurrection and how the early church first understood who he was.

Whether you are doing this by yourself, as a couple or family, or in a small group, you can take part in reading and reflecting with many others in the church fellowship. We will aim to follow the Bible readings, using Essential Jesus, from February 2008 onwards. This provides 100 daily readings to encourage reflection and help us to apply God’s Word to our lives as we follow Jesus. The blog is just one way to take part in the discussion, and is open to anyone.

As with Essential 100, the blog will cover 5 readings a week for 20 weeks. Try to read some of the Bible passage for the day. Don’t worry if you don’t have time to read Essential Jesus as well (!!), but aim to follow the Bible readings as best you can.

The aim of this blog is to provide a place for anyone in RBC to share their thoughts, reflections and comments in response to each day’s reading, and to interact with each other on-line. Don't worry about whether they are long or short, detailed or not, funny or serious! Feel free to post any comments you have and aim to build each other up.

1 Thess 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
